Nkhata Bay is a lake resort 50 km away from Mzuzu and the most obvious weekend destination. Main activities: eating in restaurants, swimming in Lake Malawi, hanging out on the beach, buying curios, smoking weed, meeting other travellers, partying (not that I've done 100% of this programme).

 

Activity 1: lunch at Myoka Village

Activity 2: swimming. Water is warm and clear (you can see fish and sand on the bottom even from two meters)
